The elective comprises 4 semester hours per week (SWS) and takes place weekly during the semester. It is offered in both the winter and the summer semester.

Interested students are given the opportunity to deepen their knowledge, under the supervision of a ward or senior physician, by examining patients from all major psychiatric disease groups (psychoses, unipolar and bipolar affective disorders, dementias, abnormal experiential reactions, addictions) from the acute area, the open wards and the outpatient clinic, to make diagnoses and to propose therapeutic strategies. In addition, the consultation service and key areas of psychotherapy and forensic psychiatry are presented in more detail. Emphasis is placed on small-group work and open discussion. Suggestions for desired topics are also welcome at any time.
